The focus of these on ice sessions is skating. The basics of edge control will be reviewed, along with forward stride, stops and starts, backward skating, turns and crossovers. Skating is the fundamental hockey skill upon which all other skills are built. It is essential that players have an opportunity to master the basics of skating, and continue to improve.
The instruction of these on ice sessions will focus on puck control, passing, and shooting. The basics of each skill will be taught and practiced, in combination with games and appropriate drills. Furthermore, these skills will be applied to individual tactics like driving the net on an attack, angling, and so on. The intention is to have a scrimmage/game at the end of each day.
Off Ice Session
The off-ice sessions will focus on conditioning and skill development. Additionally, we want our participants to have an opportunity to make new friends while at camp; this is one of the top reasons why girls play hockey. Thus, cooperative games will also be included, emphasizing the social interaction that occurs while being active and having fun. This portion of the camp is an opportunity for the players to interact and make memories to last them till next summer.
**Running shoes and active wear are required
Time for lunch will be provided during the off-ice sessions (nut free please). Please pack appropriately.
