Shooting and Stickhandling Camps - Edmonton, Alberta
Do you want to score more goals? Do you need to work on your puck handling skills? Then this is the camp for you. This year we are combining our two most popular skill camps, so participants will spend an equal amount of time on both shooting and puck handling!
The shooting portion of the camp will work through a strategic shot progression, starting with mastering the wrist shot, and shooting in stride.
Our instructors will then move through the backhand wrist shot, snap shot, slap shot, and quick release/ one-timers. Instruction will be level appropriate for the group, with individualized instruction provided where possible.
The sole focus of the second component of this camp is puck control. The camp will start with proper puck control technique, controlling the puck with different parts of your blade and in all areas around your body. From there the camp will advance into possible individual skills and tactics such as fakes, toe pulls, quick puck movement in tight, wide puck control, and more.
**Basic skating skills are required for all specialty camp participants. These camps focus on skills that build upon the foundational skill of skating. Learning will be inhibited if participant does not have basic skating fundamentals. Skating instruction is offered as part of our hockey school, along with puck control and shooting skills, and thus are the recommended camp appropriate for these players.
Please show up at least 30 minutes prior to the start of camp on the first day, with a signed waiver. At this time you will receive your camp T-shirt and water bottle. If you do not have a nametag on your helmet one will be provided at this time. Participants are expected to get themselves ready and be on ice in time for the start of camp; supervision is provided on ice only.
